NOS Pro Mod 5.0

With almost the entire Pro car field solidly in the sevens, it appears as though things may have leveled off a bit as no one made it into the sixs. However, there were still several that came very close. John Gullett (7.014), Steve Grebeck (7.014), Chuck Samuel (7.044), and Billy Glidden (7.095) were all less than a tenth away from this years magic number.

Even though this would only be a seven second weekend for the Pro cars, there were still a few that would make it past 200 mph - John Gullett (206.72), Chuck Samuel (206.32), and Steve Grebeck (202.36). These extremely impressive speeds are the perfect indicator of the tremendous power that these Turbo cars are making. While there are still several Nitrous cars that are cutting similar time slips, they are doing so by way of a sizeable weight break.

The interesting thing to notice about the Pro class is the performance available from the different power adders. With very few restrictions, this is a perfect example of just how much potential is available from Nitrous, Superchargers, and Turbos. Over the last few years Turbos have more than proven them selves to be the absolute top power producers, allowing for typically five to ten more mph compared to that of the Nitrous cars. The fact that the Supercharged and Nitrous powered cars are as competitive as they are is due mostly to the wieght break given to them. Despite the differences in power, it is still great to see that things can still be balanced out to keep all the cars as close as they are.
